BTI-Online Planspiel Handel: Store Manager

Store Manager

In the STORE MANAGER simulation, which was developed specifically for the topic of retail, your participants take on the role of leading a retail company successfully.

Working in teams of 3–4, they develop a success strategy for their store and align their market positioning based on a customer and market analysis.

They can adjust a variety of decision levers in order to configure the store according to the strategy. Among these levers are: target customer segments, product range, pricing, service offering, employee training and more.

The simulation sensitises participants to the need to address different customer types, their needs and individual characteristics. Customer and employee satisfaction are important success factors for the store.
During the simulation, participants are encouraged to engage in discussions and share experiences. This is particularly valuable when participants from different departments work together in teams. They understand that all gears must mesh smoothly in order for the company’s goals to be achieved.

Typical structure

Kaufland shares their experience with the STORE MANAGER simulation as part of their leadership development program

Since 2023, we have been successfully working with BTI as part of our leadership development program. The seminars stand out for their strong practical orientation and are made particularly dynamic and process-driven through the use of business simulations by BTI — Business Training International GmbH.

What impressed us most was the fact that the simulation is not conducted digitally on a screen, but in the traditional form of a physical board game. This creates genuine interaction, fosters teamwork, makes learning fun, and at the same time provides valuable insights.

The tasks are closely aligned with real-world business situations, which makes it much easier to transfer what has been learned into everyday work. We were also able to actively contribute to shaping the task descriptions ourselves.

Special mention goes to our trainer, Stephanie Bremer, who leads the sessions with great passion and dedication. She has a remarkable ability to make theoretical content tangible and to actively engage participants throughout the program.

For our leadership teams, working with BTI has been a valuable and inspiring addition to our traditional seminar formats. The positive feedback from our participants confirms it: BTI provides not only professionally sound, but also highly motivating and practice-relevant training that delivers lasting impact.
